Hey, remember how Google totally took the social media world by storm with Google Buzz ? No? What about Orkut, its attempt at creating a Facebook or MySpace of its own? Hey, its huge in Brazil.
Ok, Google has had a hard time of things so far with its attempts at establishing a social media presence, but the tech company does not seem ready to throw in the towel.
According to Liz Gannes at GigaOm, Google has hired an executive search firm to find a “head of social” for the company.
According to a recruitment letter obtained by Gannes, the company has a specific vision for what the executive should do:
In Google’s view, conceptually, there are two ways to tackle social, each impacting who may be successful in this senior post: 1) building an innovative offering specifically in this area; or 2) developing the capability and integrating social into Google’s existing portfolio.
So, all you social media mavens out there. Google wants to hear from you.
