Dutch software developers are all about the naps, and today, Friday, is the perfect day to indulge in a little midday snooze. So without further ado, head on over to Google Naps to find a little soft spot for your sleepy head.
The project is a pun based on Google Maps, which is used to create a location-based map of all the registered nap-zones. All you have to do is share your location. Next, you’ll see any napping spaces near you (not a lot unless you’re in the Netherlands). Each space is designated as bed, field, bench, bridge, and so on. There are also small descriptions about why it’s a good location. Evidently, someone thinks the Golden Gate Bridge is good for napping simply because it is “the best bridge in the world.”
The Googler Nappers also have a little message for copyright snobs at Google:
Dear Sergey & Larry (and other Googlers)
Hello, please don’t be mad this is just a joke, a parody. We don’t mean to damage your brand or anything, we just want to bring a smile on the faces of Google fans. So please don’t take this to court, we only have a few hundred Euros in the bank. And we also don’t want to go to jail because we’re too busy with other things at the moment. But whenever you are in the Netherlands you can have a nap on our couch if you want, just e-mail us: firstname.lastname@example.org. We can also make coffee and bake eggs if you like that (for a small price).
