Google Offers Free U.S. Calls Through Gmail in 2013

voip, gmail, google, social networks, email, social networkingGmail users can make free calls within the U.S. and Canada through 2013, Google said today.

Using a plug-in available for Mac, Windows and Linux, users can make voice or video calls from the Gmail interface.

The feature appears in the chat menu.

Users can also call other countries, including Mexico, India and some European countries, for competitive rates.

Google extended an existing promotional rate.
