Gotye seems to be rivaling Adele as one of the most coverable musicians on YouTube. New covers of his song “Somebody That I Used To Know” are popping up on a daily basis and after two new covers went viral this week we were inspired to put together a list of ten of the most-viewed Gotye covers on YouTube.
Before we get to the covers, check out the original video below. It hit YouTube last July but only went viral recently (thanks to the uber-viral cover of the song by Walk off the Earth) and it’s been viewed over 200 million times.
Walk off the Earth
And now, here’s the cover that started it all. Not only did Walk off the Earth rise to viral fame after uploading this video to YouTube in January, but they also turned Gotye’s song into a massive YouTube hit.
Two Kids In Car
Here’s a video of two kids in a car singing Gotye’s song. This video hit YouTube earlier this month and has already been viewed over 400,000 times.
Max Schneider
In this video, Max Schneider does a pretty great cover of “Somebody That I Used to Know” accompanied by piano.
GLEE
The GLEE cover of Gotye has racked up over 11.6 million views since it hit YouTube at the beginning of April.
Lindsey Pavao
Lindsey Pavao has racked up 789,000 views for this video of her performance of Gotye’s hit song on The Voice.
Pentatonix
The Pentatonix’s a cappella version of “Somebody That I Used To Know” has been viewed nearly 4 million times.
Michael Schulte & Max Giesinger
This cover has been viewed over 3.5 million times.
Christina Grimmie
YouTuber Christina Grimmie, who we had the chance to interview last year on the Digitour, has garnered 2.7 million views for her Gotye cover.
Tim Whybrow
And here’s a sweet acoustic cover by Tim Whybrow, featuring some pretty interesting instruments.
The Key of Awesome! WOTE Parody!
Now pardon us while we go Inception on ya – here’s a parody of Walk off the Earth’s cover of Gotye by The Key of Awesome! Enjoy!
