Grandparents Design App for Connecting Extended Family

Charlie and Maria Girsh aren’t your average grandparents, the duo have been designing award-winning toys for over thirty years. Now, they’re using their knowledge as grandparents to create Fam Zoom, an app for families.

The app makes doodling, homework, and games a family activity on mobile devices.  The dou have been bootstrapping their $300,000 app with their own funds and have even raised money for the Ronald McDonald House through Indiegogo.

Charlie and Maria know something about kids and fun and family. Ex-priest and ex-nun, they met in Chicago, married, and moved to St.Paul, Minnesota where they thrived as award-winning toy inventors for over thirty years. Though they licensed over 200 concepts worldwide—and even won Germany’s Children’s Game of the Year Award—they consider their best creations to be their six children.
