On Thursday, Hands-On Mobile launched the cell phone version of Guitar Hero World Tour on AT&T, CNET News reports. The new game features a drum choice for every song, fifteen new songs for both guitar and drums, and (like the previous Guitar Hero III Mobile) uses the phone’s keypad buttons instead of guitar frets.
“When you’re playing drums, the bottom row of keys (7, 8, 9) stand in for the kick-drum, which is represented in the game by a horizontal purple line that floats at you along with the notes,” the report said. There’s also a new multi-player battle mode, which lets you sync up with players of equal skill level and handset platforms across the globe.
AT&T users already have access to the game as mentioned above; by the end of the month, it will available on Sprint and Verizon, with T-Mobile, Alltel, and USCC to follow. Pricing ranges from $4 to $4.50 per month or $11 to $11.50 for a lifetime license.
Full disclosure: the author, who is also a musician, worked on audio for several Hands-On Mobile games, most for a subsidiary that Hands-On Mobile acquired at a later date.
