GPS maven Garmin has hooked up with location-based mobile social network GyPSii in a deal that calls for Garmin to license GyPSii’s wares. The non-exclusive, worldwide agreement, which encompasses GyPSii’s technology, products, data center infrastructure, development licenses and branding rights, basically means that Garmin can integrate GyPSii’s geo-location social services into its products.
Garmin’s plans include developing friend-finding apps that take advantage of the GyPSii platform and its location-specific mobile search, content sharing and social networking functions.
