Social Media

Was it a sinister marketing ploy, or an overzealous intern? U.K.-based furniture retailer Habitat fired an intern for combining popular Twitter hashtags such as #Iran and #Mousavi and promotional messages such as “Join the database for free to win a £1,000 gift card,” paidContent:UK reported.

Habitat told paidContent:UK, “This was not done by an agency. The hashtags were uploaded without Habitat’s authorization by an overenthusiastic intern who did not fully understand the ramifications of his actions. He is no longer associated with Habitat.”
