Over 4,000 ‘Harlem Shake’ Videos Are Uploaded to YouTube Every Day

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few days, you’ve probably seen the term “Harlem Shake” floating around on Facebook and Twitter and you’ve most certainly been privy to the barrage of bizarre Harlem Shake videos on YouTube.  The Harlem Shake is the biggest thing since Gangnam Style and, to give you a sense of just how massive this new meme is, YouTube Trends has released a chart that reveals just how viral it has become.

According to the chart, and YouTube Trends’ Kevin Allocca, “As of the 11th, around 12,000 ‘Harlem Shake’ videos had been posted since the start of the month and they’d already been watched upwards of 44 million times.  As you can see in the chart below, over 4,000 of these videos are being uploaded per day and that number is still likely on the rise.”

4,000 videos a day is huge.  When you consider that each video is roughly thirty seconds long, that’s over 33 hours of Harlem Shake videos uploaded per day so, in short, it is literally humanly impossible to watch every single one of them.

If you have yet to discover the amazing silliness that is the Harlem Shake, check out our post from earlier this week to find out more.  We’ve also embedded a few of the most popular iterations of this meme below.  Enjoy and let us know what you think of the latest Internet phenomenon!
