Google Voice Apps For Android And Blackberry Are Here
Google Voice was formerly known as GrandCentral. It gives you a landline phone number that people can call which is routed to Google’s facility where it can be redirected to one or more of your phones, take a voice mail message and even transcribe a voicemail message. So far, the idea of giving people a Google Voice number that is routed to your actual phone probably makes sense. But, what happens when you dial back a person who called your Google Voice phone number? They will see your actual phone number and may get confused. The new apps for Android and BlackBerry let you route your outgoing calls through Google so the person you are calling will see your Google Voice phone number as their incoming calling number.
The apps should be available from…
…real soon (like today).
Arrington reports that an iPhone version is under development too. I can hardly wait to try that version out myself.
