HBO GO, the cable company’s movie streaming app, is now available on Amazon’s Kindle Fire. The app is available in the Amazon Appstore for Android, requires an HBO subscription and with it comes about 1,400 HBO titles such as Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and True Blood.
This will extend the library of video content available on the Kindle. Aaron Rubenson, director of the Amazon Appstore, stated: “The HBO GO app will offer instant access to HBO’s incredible lineup of shows. Kindle Fire owners already download and use apps and games frequently on their devices, and we expect that only to increase with the addition of HBO GO and all of its popular content.”
The app is already available on the iPad, iPhone, Android, Roku, Samsung and HBO recently made it available on the Xbox 360. Marcelo Eduardo, Associate Design Director at digital agency Huge, told us about the process. He said: “In the design phase, we paid a lot of attention to the content organization. The Xbox has pretty well-defined user interface components, so we took ample time to figure out how to fit the content in the best possible way. After that, we started prototyping. We validated the best ideas, discarded the weaker ones and moved on with the design that ended up being released.”
