Hearst Magazines named Avi Zimak to the newly created post of advertising director, tablet media, where he will serve as the liaison between the advertising community and the mobile and tablet versions of Hearst’s brands, including apps for the iPhone, iPad and other devices.
His new responsibilities also include overseeing sales and marketing activities for new Hearst Magazines initiative The App Lab, which will launch in October and provide educational sessions on topics including emerging mobile content, apps and platforms, as well as new ad formats and consumer insights.
Zimak had served as advertising manager at Town & Country since July 2007. Prior to that, he held positions as wine and spirits and automotive director at Gourmet; luxury, automotive and wine and spirits director at Details; and technology account manager at Business 2.0.
