Your World Games, which launched The Shroud, the first mobile role-playing game on AT&T at the end of June, has unveiled a version for Helio devices.
The new Helio edition has something not found in the AT&T version – a GPS Challenge. Available with all GPS-enabled Helio phones, the GPS Challenge lets players physically locate “breaches” in real-life locations. Players will receive alerts of breaches on their phone and, using an on-screen compass as a guide, they need to physically get to these locations. Once the user reaches a breach point, a special timed challenge will launch. If the player beats the challenge, he’ll win gold and some rare in-game items. As the game progresses, the GPS-based challenges will grow from a few hundred feet to several miles.
The game plot features Taro, a simple farmer who fights to protect his homeland from the Shroud and its ancient evil inhabitants.
The Shroud for Helio is $2.99. Our question is what will happen to the game once Virgin Mobile USA completes its bargain acquisition of the MVNO.
