Watch: Honda Spoofs eHarmony Video Bio

eHarmony Video Bio was one of the most popular videos of Summer 2011, racking up over 16 million views and spawning a slew of hilarious parodies, but we haven’t heard much about the crazy eHarmony cat girl for a few months now.  Well folks, this month Honda is bringing the eHarmony Video Bio back as part of their ‘Good Reasons’ campaign with a parody of their own.  Honda may be a little behind on this one (after all, the original video reached its peak back in June), but you know what?  It’s actually pretty funny.

The video, like others in the ‘Good Reasons’ campaign, stars Patrick Warburton, who you may recognize as Putty from Seinfeld, the voice of Joe from Family Guy or Jeff from Rules Of Engagement.  According to a press release from RPA, the agency behind the campaign, “The ‘Good Reasons’ campaign features a self-assured Warburton espousing the truth about car buying and advertising in over-the-top discussions ranging from legal disclaimers to whether sex can help sell cars.”

RPA SVP/GCD Jason Sperling says, “In this campaign, we took the values that are core to Honda’s brand image—simple, smart and straightforward—and made them really engaging and fun.  We created a layer of honesty that isn’t seen from most car manufacturers.  And we show Honda’s many strengths in a way that cuts through the clichés and usual tactics and feels incredibly fresh.”  Even the ridiculous Honda parody of the eHarmony cat video shares key information about Honda, including info about all the awards Honda won this year from JD Power & Associates.

The campaign was part of a YouTube takeover that went live in the US earlier this week.  Check out the full campaign at GoodReasons.ShopHonda.com, which is chock full of funny and informative videos about everything from fuel efficiency, quality and innovation to value, dependability and safety and let us know what you think!  What’s your take on the campaign as a whole, and what do you think of the eHarmony response?  We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
