Honda is all about showing their fans that they love them back.  According to a press release, “Since the inception of the Honda brand Facebook page in August of 2009, fans have shared hundreds of pictures, stories, videos and moments showing their love of Honda,” and over the years Honda has returned the favor.  When a fan mowed a Honda logo into his lawn, Honda mowed his name in the grass at their HQ.  They’ve painted their toenails to thank fans, gotten (fake) tattoos, funny haircuts and more.  Yesterday, Honda celebrated Halloween by carving fan’s faces into pumpkins.

The Jack-O-Lantern fan images were uploaded to Facebook in an album called ‘We’re fans of you too: Halloween Edition’.  Honda, with the help of custom pumpkin carving masters Maniac Pumpkin Carvers, created customized pumpkins for all of the fans that created hand-carved Honda Jack-O-Lanterns on Halloween last year.  Click on the screenshot below to see the images on Facebook.

I absolutely love this campaign.  Not only is Honda showing love for its fans, but they’re also inspiring fans to create more great Honda content.  How many more people do you think created Honda pumpkins for Halloween this year after they saw that Honda was custom-carving pumpkins for all the fans that did last year?  Honda fans are rewarded for creating awesome viral Honda content and, as a result, they produce more and more of it!

Alicia Jones, social media strategist at American Honda Motor Co. says, “We’re honored to have one million Honda brand Facebook fans and we wanted to show our appreciation in a meaningful way.  How many people do you know who would carve someone else’s name into their hair?  We’re so fortunate to have amazing and dedicated Honda brand fans.  And that’s the kind of commitment our associates have to our fans.  We really do love them back.”
