Hootlet Is No Longer Just A Link-Sharing Extension

Chrome users can now share any selection, webpage, post or tweet using the little Hootlet button in the toolbar.

This might sound pretty simple, and — well, it is. But that’s the beauty of it. The ability to post simultaneously to multiple social media accounts is valuable. No more opening tabs and copy-pasting. Hootlet is a tool for serious time-savers.

You can choose to schedule posts yourself, or use the AutoSchedule feature to take the guesswork out of it. Hootlet will post for you at the time most likely to get engagement. This is a godsend for anyone with multiple accounts to manage — remembering the optimum time for each individual platform can be a nightmare.

But wait, you could already do those things, couldn’t you? Yes, but now you can do MORE:

Although we all engage with websites, blogposts, images and videos on social networks, it’s still pretty rare to find social media engaging with web-content. It’s insanely one-sided.

Hootlet now pulls up relevant social media posts when you type a search query into Google, and displays geotagged Tweets on Yelp and Google Maps. And this is a great idea. It makes you wonder why it’s not already a “thing.” (We’re guessing it soon will be.)

Integration is surely a two-way process — it’s not enough to put the interwebs in social media. Social media must also infiltrate online if we want real, useful integration, and it looks like the folks at Hootsuite have figured this out.
