HootSuite Snags Vancouver’s Geotoko

Vancouver’s HootSuite is growing like gangbusters with no plans of slowing down. Reported by The Vancouver Sun, the company is on an acquisition spree, announcing this week it has acquired the location-based marketing tool Geotoko.

That makes five acquisitions for HootSuite. The company has already acquired What the Trend, Twapper Keeper, TwitterBar and Swift App.

Geotoko aggregates information from check-in services such as Facebook Places and Foursquare, offering companies information that helps them fine tune marketing campaigns and reach customers even more with special offers and promotions.

This week’s announcement is the latest in what obviously has been a busy season for HootSuite. The company is the creator of the popular HootSuite social media dashboard. The platform gives individuals, organizations and corporate users a management tool for publishing and monitoring conversations on a range of social media networks from Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and others.

A short time ago, the Vancouver company announced it has raised $3 million in debt bridge financing and become a member of the LinkedIn Certified Developer program and added advanced Facebook tools.

According to TechVibes, in May 2010, Founder Adarsh Pallian launched Geotoko at TechCrunch Disrupt’s Startup Battlefield and earlier this year Pallian (along with HootSuite’s Ryan Holmes) was named to Techvibes Digital Media People to Watch in BC list for 2011.
