hotel_calcSimilar to the website for flights called Kayak.com, HotelCalculator.com searches multiple different hotel websites to provide a “one-stop shop” experience for consumers. Type in the city you are looking for a hotel in and the dates, and HotelCalculator.com provides a list of available hotel rooms. However, there were a couple things that became problematic. The search function is very sensitive to how you enter your query. For example, I entered “Columbus OH” without a comma and without specifying the country. Underneath the search it offers a “Did you mean….”. Be sure to utilize this function, otherwise it will not search properly. Another small disclaimer is that it defaults prices in Euros, so be sure to update it to list prices in USD.

Also like Kayak.com, this website doesn’t allow you to book through them. Instead, it sends you back to the merchant’s website to book directly with them. This allows the middleman only for the convenience of one website to search on, but if you have issues down the line with your reservation, you only have the direct hotel to contact.

Overall this website is user friendly and has the right idea. I have always had success with Kayak.com for the best airline prices, so I’ll give HotelCalculator.com a chance to prove that they can also provide the best hotel prices.
