How Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) Integrates with Twitter

The Windows Phone “Mango” update adds Twitter integration to the platform. Microsoft’s Andy Myers explains how this all looks and works in a blog post this week.

Tweet-ness! How Twitter works in Mango

Facebook status was integrated into the first Windows Phone release. Mango adds both LinkedIn and Twitter. Updates can be posted directly from Windows Phone’s People Hub. No additional app is needed. The main display “Tile” for the People Hub’s “Me Card” gets a lot more interesting with Mango. It currently just alternates between showing your profile photo and the word “Me”. The tile’s primary current function is as a shortcut to the Card. With Mango, the Me Card tile shows comments to your Facebook status, posts to your Facebook wall and Twitter mentions.

The Mango People Hub’s “What’s New” card shows everything you’ve posted to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to provide a quick summary of things you’ve shared on those social networks.

Note: So far, I am not aware of when various current generation Windows Phone devices can expect to see the Windows Phone 7.5 (“Mango”) system update.
