Hulu Goes HD

For the first time, Hulu, the online video portal whose users are “happy but not numerous,” has added pure 720p high-definition videos for shows such as ‘Heroes,’ ’24,’ ’30 Rock’ and ‘The Office,’ according to AppScout. Temporarily, the videos will also be ad-free; the company didn’t say how long they’re going to keep that going, but we’ll venture a guess and say “not long.”

The report said that the HD Gallery currently includes seven full episodes from the aforementioned shows, plus Joss Whedon‘s Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog starring Neil Patrick Harris, Fields of Glory, and Three Sheets. The site also has six nature and documentary shows in HD, four sports programs, and 10 movie clips. Unlike YouTube, Hulu doesn’t offer mobile access yet, although the site only exited beta in March—so it’s still early.
