Hurricane Sandy Blows Over | The Stylus Returns [Podcast]

On today’s social media edition of the Morning Media Menu, GalleyCat editor Jason Boog and I talked about social media’s role in spreading news during Hurricane Sandy and explored a new app for converting your handwriting to digital text on the iPad.

In the podcast, I share my memories of standing on my fire escape in Red Hook, Brooklyn while the superstorm brought much of the flood damage that was featured in major news outlets via photos on Twitter and Instagram. Boog and I talked about the impact those images had on the relief efforts in the week following the storm.

We also discussed New York tech companies, like Foursquare, that were impacted by the loss of power.

Finally, Boog shared a new tool that can actually read your handwriting and convert it to digital text. Is the stylus going to replace the touch screen?
