If Social Media Sites Were Animals [Infographic]

“Stop, look, share, and bask in the sunshine of social media.” This infographic reimagines the top social networks as animals in an Internet zoo.

Take some time to read the captions, because it won’t be immediately apparent why Facebook is a penguin and LinkedIn is a lion. PRWeb‘s visualization includes fairly recent user statistics for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+, Digg, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Technorati and the social network platform Ning, but the animals aren’t ranked according to size. Instead, you can weigh the pros and cons of each site to determine if it’s right for your next PR campaign. Even though Twitter is the second largest network, you’ll still be dealing with an ant: you’ll have to work in a small space of 140 characters or less and the “buzzing system of live stream and topic sorting” has a “huge reach.” If you’ve got any ideas for Pinterest, Spotify, or other sites, let us know in the comments.
