I mentioned my MacBook’s hairline case cracks about two weeks ago and took it in to the local Apple Store’s Genius Bar last week…

AppleCare Lesson 2: MacBook Hairline Cracks

My MacBook was actually ready for pick up over the weekend but I was only able to retrieve it Tuesday afternoon. You can see in the repair list that Apple put my MacBook through a complete diagnostic check list. They replaced its heatsink as well as a few other case parts. One side benefit was that the discolored palmrest area on either side of the trackpad was also replaced. So, I have a near pristine MacBook case.

My MacBook’s AppleCare extended warranty expires next month when it turns 3 months old. However, Apple provided a receipt to show what the repair cost would have been without AppleCare: $100 for labor and $180 flat rate repair.
