Smartphones will account for 20% of the mobile phone market by 2013, twice their current market share, according to In-Stat.
A new report from the market researcher forecasts strong global growth, with even higher growth in the US. Roughly a third of the survey respondents intend to make their next cell phone purchase a smartphone.
In-Stat forecasts Linux-based phones, which includes the Android platform, to see the highest growth rate, outpacing BlackBerry, iPhone and Windows Mobile devices.
More info on the $3,495 report is available on In-Stat’s Web site.
