Infographic: Why Internet Adoption Rates are 25% Lower Among Women

Women around the world are adopting the internet at a slower pace than men, and technological skills have nothing to do with it. A recent survey revealed that women and girls in developing countries are being denied access to the Internet, which also limits their access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

Cultural beliefs about internet use, illiteracy, and access to technology have slowed adoption rates across the board for people in developing countries, but especially for women. Only 21 percent of females have access to the internet in developing countries, compared to 27 percent of males.

This infographic by Brain Track breaks down internet adoption rates in different parts of the world and explores the reasons why women are not getting online as quickly as men.
