Instagram Update Includes Video Uploads, Photo Straightening

One month after launching a video-sharing tool, Instagram has returned with new versions of its apps for iOS and Android.

For the video portion of the app, Instagram has added the ability for users to upload videos from the media libraries on their phones as well as shooting videos from within the app. Users can trim these videos for length and crop the frame to best fit Instagram’s square shape.

The Instagram team has also developed a technology for automatically straightening crooked photographs. Users can now tap the “Straighten” icon to fix an image they’ve taken with the in-app camera or use the slider to rotate and adjust any photo on Instagram, including ones they’ve uploaded from their phones.

Instagram will also be available on Android 4.0, or Ice Cream Sandwich. “Since the launch of Video on Instagram this has been the Android community’s number-one request, and we’re excited to see this community grow,” the company said.
