iPad To Generate 2% Of Web Traffic By End Of 2011

According to a new report from Chitika, by the end of 2011, the iPad is expected to generate more than 2 percent of all North American Web traffic.

According to CNET, Chitika “has been tracking iPad adoption rates on its ad network (3 billion ads served monthly across more than 100,000 sites) for some time now. As of this month, the iPad accounts for 0.83 percent of all traffic on Chitika’s network, research director Daniel Ruby tells me. And at current growth rates, which have been steady since the device’s launch, it should hit 2.3 percent by the end of next year.”

Last month, Gartner predicted that tablet sales would displace PC sales about 10 percent by 2014. The affect is already expected to show up in 2010 PC sales. According to Gartner, PC shipments are on pace to total 352.4 million units in 2010, which is down from Gartner’s previous PC shipment forecast in September of 17.9 percent growth.

With all of these tablets in hand, tablets may begin to hurt dedicated eReader sales.
