Just as we predicted last month, Apple said today that the iPhone will be able to play YouTube videos.
This wasn’t a huge leap of faith, of course, given that they recently announced that Apple TV can stream YouTube videos around the house. It’s only a natural extension to be able to play them on the iPhone as well. You don’t need an Apple TV either; the iPhone will play YouTube videos on its own.
For the record, the iPhone and Apple TV are both essentially full-blown Macintosh computers, but with restrictions on their abilities. There’s nothing they technically couldn’t do, at least in software, given that they run the same operating system (OS X) as iMacs and MacBooks.
