It looks like the best mobile browser is about to get better according to this item in ars technica…
JavaScript to get 3x speed boost in iPhone OS 3.0
The iPhone’s Safari mobile browser is the best mobile browser I have ever used. One of the reasons it is so good is that it does a good job of rendering web pages correctly. Another reason is it does this reasonably fast. Modern web pages rely heavily on JavaScript to their visual and user-interactive web-magic. So, any JavaScript speed increase means a better iPhone user experience.
However, Safari mobile for the iPhone has been notoriously buggy with frequent crashes. Although Safari crashes have decreased tremendously with the last couple of updates, it remains to be seen if the speed and other improvements coming with iPhone OS 3.0 may also include new browser bugs.
