Is The Web the Answer to A Dearth of Global News?

The nightly global newscast Worldfocus is partnering with GroundReport.com, the global citizen journalism platform, to launch “Talk To Us.” The initiative is in response to media companies’ downsizing or shuttering of foreign bureaus. The “Talk To Us” platform cultivates reports from citizen journalists allowing anyone to post news video reports which may make it on air.

“The next generation of television programming is the innovative use of bringing Web video to television,” said Neal Shapiro, President and CEO of WNET.ORG. “Viewers will gain local insight and access to foreign coverage and see what’s really going on in the world in a way traditional news organizations are unable to report.”
