AT&T has finally announced that its mobile TV service will go live on May 4, the expected launch date that’s been kicking around the Net for a few weeks now. With the official news from the telco we get some specifics that have been lacking so far, like details on the exclusive channels.
As expected, AT&T Mobile TV will launch with 10 channels, eight that are also available on Verizon’s similar service – CBS Mobile, Comedy Central, ESPN Mobile, Fox Mobile, MTV, NBC 2GO, NBC News 2GO and Nickelodeon – and two AT&T exclusives. The first exclusive is PIX, featuring content from Sony Pictures Television. The second is CNN Mobile Live, a live, ’round-the-clock stream of the CNN TV station.
As for what we didn’t already know, mobile TV fans who sign up soon can also check out a special, limited-time channel called CNCRT. Available for two months, CNCRT will rotate through a collection of about 30 concerts delivered by Control Room, CNET’s News.com reports.
AT&T wireless subscribers in 58 US markets will have access to the service, but only if they have one of two new phones, the LG Vu or the Samsung Access.
