Remember the old McDonald’s signs that displayed how many billions the fast-food chain had served? Maybe it’s time for Apple to put up a similar sign at its retail stores or Cupertino HQ showing off how many iTunes tracks it’s sold.
Seriously, it does have the right to gloat a little that music fans have now downloaded more than five billion songs from the iTunes Store and pushed it past Wal-Mart as the top music retailer in the US. Of course, the fact that it has some eight million tracks to choose from probably helps a lot.
Oh, yeah, and that touchscreen phone thing it launched last year. The one with Wi-Fi that lets you download tracks from iTunes over-the-air while you’re sipping a Frappuccino at Starbucks. What’s it called again?
