iVillage’s newest property devoted to working moms, called Momtourage, has just released two new Facebook applications, according to MediaPost. “My Momtourage” is a messaging widget that lets users chat privately, send “shout outs” and post questions. It also lets users add pictures to a dedicated photo board and includes “Momscopes,” which are essentially horoscopes for moms and created by Astrology.com writers.
“What Kind of Mom Are You?” quizzes parents on their parenting styles and then rates them according to categories such as “Vogue mom,” “Green mom,” and “Manager mom.” It then gives them a badge that appears on their profile, according to the report.
Facebook apps like this actually don’t run on cell phones yet, which is a significant hole in Facebook’s mobile initiative to date. That’s usually due to mobile browser limitations, although Facebook has made inroads around that with its native apps, so there’s a possibility we’ll see this functionality in the future.
