Justin Bieber Croons His Way Past 3 Billion YouTube Views

We hope you’re sitting down, because we’ve got some crazy news!  As of this afternoon, Justin Bieber has officially become the first person to reach 3 billion views on his YouTube channel, JustinBieberVEVO.

It’s been almost exactly one year since Bieber beat Lady Gaga to 2 billion views last October.  Starcount gave us the heads up about this news via email, letting us know that “although he is now the most viewed person on YouTube, the pop prince was pipped to the post by Lady Gaga for the 1 billion milestone in 2010 but has since been unbeaten on YouTube, with his song ‘Baby’ still the most watched YouTube video in the world with over 791 million views.”

Bieber’s latest video, ‘Beauty And A Beat’, has already racked up more than 43 million views, no doubt spurring on the onslaught of views that took the singer over that 3 billion view mark.

Justin Bieber is currently trailed by a slew of other VEVO YouTube channels.  Rihanna, taking the number two slot with 2.8 billion views, is likely to be the next to cross over that 3 billion view mark.  Lady Gaga trails with 2.2 billion views, followed by Eminem with 2 billion and Shakira with 1.7 billion.  Beyonce, the Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown, Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez are also in the top ten.

Each of these musicians has been racking up views on large numbers of YouTube videos on their channels over the years and, as such, these artists are likely to remain at the top of YouTube’s most-viewed channel list for awhile now.  However, when it comes to the most-viewed video, it looks like newcomer Psy may be giving these artists a run for their money.

Last week, Gangnam Style overtook Charlie Bit My Finger, LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem and Shakira’s Waka Waka to become the fourth most-viewed video of all time.  Over the weekend, Psy overtook Eminem as well and now stands in the third most-viewed spot with over 528 million views.  Up from just over 500 million on Friday.  Justin Bieber is still in the number one spot, but who knows for how long!
