Justin Timberlake Will Have an Office and a Staff of Six for MySpace Relaunch

Similar to his role as Sean Parker in The Social Network, Justin Timberlake is set to take on the social networking responsibilities for real. In the coming year, he plans to turn his creative abilities toward reviving MySpace.

Just about a year after the Award winning movie opened in theaters, Timberlake proceeded to purchase an ownership share in MySpace in June of 2011. It was purchased by Specific Media, a digital advertising company based in the U.S and founded by brothers Chris, Tim and Russell Vanderhook.

When the purchase was announced, Tim Vanderhook, who is chief executive of the ad firm, told the Los Angeles Times that Timberlake will have an office at MySpace and a staff of six.

TechCrunch also reported that “Timberlake will play a ‘major role’ in strategy and creative direction for the beleaguered social network. The release makes no mention of exactly how much of a stake the pop star will have.”

Timberlake hopes to make some revolutionary changes, stating in a press release announcing MySpace purchase, “There’s a need for a place where fans can go to interact with their favorite entertainers, listen to music, watch videos, share and discover cool stuff and just connect. MySpace has the potential to be that place.”
