Kaltura Raises $25 Million For Open Source Video Management In Asia

Kaltura, the video management startup known, among other things, for their involvement with video hosting on Wikipedia, has closed a $25 million Series D funding round.  The round follows an initial funding round of $2.1 million, $21 million in 2008, and $20 million in 2011.

This latest $25 million funding round includes participation from Mitsui Global Investment and Orix Ventures, who are investing in Kaltura for the first time.  Previous investors Nexus Venture Partners, Avalon Ventures, Intel Capital and .406 ventures.  According to Ryan Lawler of TechCrunch, “Mitsui’s participation is strategic, as Kaltura looks to expand more into the Asia-Pacific market.”

Kaltura is the provider of “the world’s first and only Open Source Online Video Platform.”  It is currently in use by over 150,000 companies and websites, including HBO, TMZ, Best Buy, Zappos.com, and more.  You can find out more about the company in the video below.
