Every other section of the newspaper is represented in the app world, so why not the funny pages? King Features Syndicate announced the launch of its DailyINK app for the iPhone and iPod Touch, with an iPad version coming soon.
Subscribers to DailyINK will receive daily updates and archives of some 90 comic strips from King, including Beetle Bailey, Blondie, Hägar the Horrible, Zits, Mutts, Bizarro, Dustin, Oh, Brother!, Dennis the Menace, The Family Circus, and Baby Blues, as well as historical strips such as Krazy Kat, The Little King, Popeye the Sailor Man, and The Phantom. Subscriptions cost $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year.
The app is available for free download, and nonsubscribers will still receive samples, plus one brand-new strip each day.
King comics editor Brendan Burford said:
The DailyINK app enables portable-device users the opportunity to have unlimited access to their favorite comic strips whenever and wherever they are. By offering all of our current favorites updated daily, along with access to our extensive archives of beloved characters, as well as political humor, the DailyINK app will no doubt be a daily destination for our fans who may or may not have access to the comics via a newspaper or the Internet.
