Korea : 11 Million Mobile TV Users

There are 11 million mobile TV subscribers in Korea, according to a report in Telecoms Korea. Some 9.69 million of them subscribe to terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) and 1.31 million use satellite DMB, the report says, citing figures from the Broadcasting and Communications Commission and the Special Committee on Terrestrial DMB.

In Korea, T-DMB attracted more than 520,000 new users in February, which was also the first month that service providers were allowed to run ads in the middle of a mobile TV program, the paper says. Given the current rate of uptake, T-DMB is on track to pass 10 million subscribers this month.
