Online Media Daily has the scoop on mobile TV, and it looks good for the fledgling U.S. market. According to comScore in a recent e-mail survey of 2,000 people, 40% of respondents expressed interest in mobile TV.
Some specifics: two-thirds of mobile subscribers are male, and almost half are under 35 years old. Both genders are interested in mobile TV about equally, though, and two-thirds said they’d watch ads in exchange for free subscriptions.
We think mobile TV will see a surge in popularity as more broadcast-capable handsets hit the market, and as people see the difference in quality between the newer models and the jerky, pixelated, services that make up the majority of streamed cell phone video today.
