The tech industry didn’t really see this coming, but LG scored a hit with their expensive Prada cell phone. LG says it will sell more than 700,000 units of the Prada phone by the end of the year, according to the UK-based Mobile Entertainment:
“The successful roll-out would appear to reward LG’s faith in the touchscreen phone user interface, especially given that its second foray into this market — the Viewty — sold 310,000 in just two months.”
The Prada phone debuted in Europe (Italy, UK, France and Germany) in March 2007 and in key Asian countries in May. It was subsequently launched in other European, Asian and Latin America countries. The handset will soon be distributed in China, the report said. The Prada phone is technically available in the U.S. but only through specialty importers such as Dynamism.
