Limbo announced the launch of sports text alerts for NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and NCAA Football and Basketball teams; after signing up for alerts, fans receive scores automatically on their phones once a given game has ended.
Here’s how it works: To receive text alerts directly to a mobile phone, send the word SPORTS to Limbo’s short code, 41414. The site will send back a message asking for an SMS text with the name of a NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB or NCAA football or basketball team. After that, new scores are sent as soon as the game ends, and there are no limits to the number of team alerts a person can receive.
The company said in a statement that it currently sends out one million messages a day, for horoscopes, jokes, and weather, as well as ocation-aware social networking tools for finding friends, restaurants, and the other usual goodies.
