LinkedIn for iPhone 3.3 Hits iTunes App Store

LinkedIn announced that Apple has approved LinkedIn for iPhone 3.3, and the free app is now available via the App Store on iTunes.

Among the new features introduced by the professional networking site: a simplified home screen with just nine icons; a redesigned Network Updates interface; the ability to like or comment; sharing content via a new Post to Updates button; a new Connections tab; and the incorporation of Company Buzz.

Senior engineering manager Jaikumar Ramanathan posted on the LinkedIn Blog:

The newly designed Updates experience allowed us to simplify the home screen to nine icons, making it easier for you to find what you need as fast as you can. This works well whether you’re out and about trying to close a business deal or if you just want to pull up a LinkedIn profile of potential job hires before the interview.

The Network Updates experience has been redesigned to both make it simpler to share business intelligence with your connections on LinkedIn and Twitter, as well as to view their updates. We now include a rich share view on the iPhone where you see an image and a short snippet of what was shared. The Network Updates view now allows you to tab through updates in four frequencies: all updates, just your updates, connection updates, or your favorite connections’ updates.

You can share a new article from your iPhone or reshare an article from your connection by tapping on “Post to Updates.” If you have tethered your Twitter account on LinkedIn, you will also be able to cross-post to your Twitter account at the same time.

Most important, this new version incorporates LinkedIn’s Company Buzz experience into our iPhone app. We now allow you to stay up-to-date with what people are saying about your company, school, or products on Company Buzz. The first time you use Buzz, it automatically creates saved searches for every company and school that is in your profile. Tapping through to a saved search shows you the most recent Tweets about that search term.
