LinkedIn Offers Data on Childhood Dream Jobs Around the World

LinkedIn released a graphic today identifying the most common childhood dream jobs by country. For the United States, the professional social network identified dream jobs for boys and girls. There was zero overlap between the two.

All but one of the most popular dream jobs in the world in the sciences: engineer, pilot, doctor or nurse, scientist and teacher. Teacher was the most popular dream job in the U.S., but also the only one of the most coveted jobs to appear on the girls’ wish list.

According to LinkedIn, nearly one in three of the network’s members surveyed said they now work or have worked in a job related to their dream job.

LinkedIn advises, however, that if your son’s dream job is as a professional athlete, the most common dream job among American boys, that you help him develop a backup plan ASAP. Check out LinkedIn’s tips.
