LinkedIn Tops 10M Users in India

LinkedIn announced a milestone in India, surpassing the 10 million-user mark there, and the professional networking site included some fun facts about its user base in the country along with its announcement.

According to LinkedIn, the top 10 surnames among its Indian members are: Kumar, Singh, Sharma, Gupta, Jain, Shah, Patel, Mishra, Reddy, and Yadav. And the top 10 industries among its membership in the country are: information technology and services, computer software, telecommunications, financial services, education management, banking, automotive, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and accounting.

The term “social media” was included in 16,105 profiles, while 19,027 mentioned Bollywood, Hollywood, or film. Yoga was cited 762 times, while 2,587 listed their job title as ayurveda, meaning traditional Indian alternative medicine.

LinkedIn’s Indian headquarters are in Mumbai, and the company also has offices in Gurgaon and Bengaluru.
