Lionsgate, Zed Want to Make Viewers Instantly Rich

Lionsgate has partnered with mobile content provider Zed develop and launch Zed’s multiplatform program Instantly Rich in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Instantly Rich, a 60-minute weekly reality show, launched in January on Spain’s Antena 3 TV network.

Lionsgate and Zed started exploring their cross-platform synergies in September ’08; the expansion of Instantly Rich is the first child of their relationship. In addition to shopping it to traditional TV and cable networks, the duo will also offer it, in Zed’s proprietary format, to mobile operators for SMS integration.

On mobile, Instantly Rich will invite viewers to compete via SMS for a chance to be a contestant on the next week’s episode where they’ll compete to win up to $1 million. Viewers will also be able to interact through mobile social networks, including Zed People, as well as via a WAP site and downloadable mobile applications.

The companies haven’t said yet when they expect to launch the program in the additional markets.
