Liquid Air Lab, a mobile ad technology outfit with a focus on the Symbian platform, has launched a mobile app store for Nokia smartphones.
What makes adtronic different, Liquid Air claims, is that all available apps are ad-enabled and free of charge. Accessible at www.atronic.mobi, the storefront went live with free, ad-funded versions of premium applications from a number of developers including Indiagames, Joikusoft, DS Effects, Killer Mobile, ZingMagic and Cellictica.
Consumers can download the apps directly to their phones. The ads will appear when users receive calls or SMS or MMS messages. The adtronic platform determines the type and frequency of ads to deliver based on a user’s individual profile. There are 15 categories of ads like automotive, sports, beauty and travel for the user to choose from. The user also chooses the frequency or maximum number of ads to receive daily. The company doesn’t say whether or not frequency of ads affects available app usage or downloads, but it would make sense if it does.
So far, the adtronic site has around 150 apps, a number Liquid Air expects to top 1,500 by this summer.
