Anyone who lives a tech-nomadic lifestyle has run into the situation of a surface that does not work with a typical optical mouse. Certain textured (mottled) surface patterns can give some mice the fits. And, glass (clear or laid over an opaque surface) is a mouse’s arch-nemisis. If you are not carrying a mouse pad (remember those?), you usually have to scramble to find a sheet of paper or any other thin opaque material to throw on top of the glass to let you use your mouse.
