If you’re an Internet radio fan, listen up: Logitech and Pandora just announced that Pandora is now free of charge for owners of Logitech Squeezebox devices, according to The News Market. That makes Logitech the first music player manufacturer to offer the service at no extra charge, including AT&T and Sprint‘s Pandora Mobile hookups.
So what’s a Squeezebox? It’s a network streaming device that lets you play music files across an 802.11g wireless connection. It’s yet another step in the mishmash that is today’s home stereo system, encompassing CD players, iPods, computer hard drives, Web sites, cell phones, car stereos, and MySpace, many of which use different track formats, streaming protocols, and DRM schemes to connect to each other. Easy, right? (None of that is Logitech’s fault. We’re just saying.)
