Several apps are available to remotely access and control personal computers, but LogMeIn is one of the oldest ones and is popular because it comes in free and paid versions. The free version provides remote control within a web browser from desktop computers, while the Pro version that costs $39.95 provides more features like the ability to wake up a computer to access it. The apps to access desktop computers from mobile devices is called LogMeIn Ignition, which usually cost $30 but is currently on sale $14.99.
The sale price, which is a 50% discount, is available for the iOS and Android versions of the app. While I already have a copy for my iPad, I went ahead a bought the Android version at the discounted price to use on my HTC Flyer.
You aren’t going to use LogMeIn on a tablet as if you were sitting in front of a computer, but it does provide a quick way to remotely access your computer should you need to. One way that you can use LogMeIn is to provide remote support for family members, which is a common occurrence for the “designated geek” of a family. Just install the free version of LogMeIn on the family members computer and then when they have a problem you can access the computer to see what is going wrong.
