Social mapping service Loopt has hooked into Facebook Connect to let Facebook users integrate Loopt’s location-awareness into their Facebook feeds. This “connection” enables users to share and find recommendations for nearby restaurants, shops and other places and services as well as connect with their Facebook friends both on- and offline without sacrificing any of their privacy settings.
The new functionality will roll out later this summer for iPhone users, who can download it from the App Store. Loopt says the features will become available for the BlackBerry and feature phones from Verizon, Sprint Nextel and Boost Mobile soon thereafter.
